The School of G’lamour
The School of G'lamour showcases Gwendoline's unique and multi faceted approach to burlesque performance as well as her commitment to empowering women, spreading the word of burlesque and bringing a little elegance and glamour into the world.
Apart from being one of the world's top burlesque performers with an array of impressive credits to her name, including her recent appearance at The Sunflower Jam alongside such legends as Robert Plant and Paul Weller and shows for the Marquis of Bath, Jasper Conran and Agent Provocateur to name but a few; Gwendoline also has an extensive background in theatre and dance.
Following her BA and MA degrees in theatre and performance, Gwendoline gained her teaching qualification at Central School of Speech and Drama, and went on to teach at many of London's top drama schools. As a post-graduate she studied the history of movement and manners from the 17th century onwards, working with top ballet dancers she traced the development of ballet from court movement and went on to relate this to the body postures used by models and showgirls among other. This, combined with her experience of dance, yoga and pilates forms the bedrock of the School of G'lamour.
The class is broken down into two halves. The first is to work with posture and body alignment to create an elegant canvas on which to build.
The second half of the class is devoted to the art of tease, including stocking striptease, fun with heels, perfect poise for photographs and other playful delights. Sessions can be tailored to fit specific requirements and Gwendoline will teach tassel twirling as an extra by arrangement.
Gwendoline has taught ladies of all walks of life and all ages, with 68 being her eldest client yet! Without exception all ladies who have attended The School of G'lamour have found it an inspirational and invigorating experience, and have left brimming with self confidence with an unmistakable spring in their step! You do not need dance experience or to be an aspiring burlesque star to attend the class, all are welcome.
